Pick the pipe — then the brain

APNs and FCM are the pipes. OneSignal or Bloomreach (or a lean Firestore setup) is how you aim — without turning jackpot alerts into spam.

Lottery Innovation Summit · October 16, 2026 · US lottery industry

Push without architecture is just noise with a badge. On iOS you still speak APNs. On Android you still speak FCM. Everything else is how you orchestrate.

Recommendation: Firebase + OneSignal — or Firebase + Bloomreach.

Firebase + OneSignal — solid default for many lottery teams: FCM/APNs under the hood, OneSignal for campaigns, segments, and speed without a CDP tax.

Firebase + Bloomreach — when you want push customized the way you customize email: richer journeys, templates, and cross-channel consistency. If Bloomreach already runs email, push can match that brain.

On a budget: stay on Firebase, add Cloud Functions, and keep user preferences in Firestore with the device ID attached so you can target users directly. No second SaaS required to send a responsible, preference-aware push.

Also in the market: Braze and Airship for heavy engagement suites; Amazon SNS when you’re AWS-native and willing to own more plumbing. None of them replace consent, frequency caps, or responsible-play rules.

Jackpot alerts that ignore quiet hours aren’t “engagement.” They’re how you train players to disable notifications — or delete the app.

Real problems. Built solutions.

Lottery Innovation Summit is a challenge summit for US lottery gaming — not a conference: problems in, working demos out — not decks. Join the announcement list for when details are finalized.
