Website ≠ app

Most of the industry ships a wrapper. Players feel the difference — even when they never read the copy.

Lottery Innovation Summit · September 20, 2026 · US lottery industry

The majority of the industry does a web-wrapped app. Native is what most audiences want — they just don’t always know how to ask for it.

They feel it. On load. On scroll. When they try to engage. Players may not read your copy. They still know when something is off.

Users may not read copy. But they feel.

Continuously, people want a mobile app so they can say they have one. Not because they treat it as another marketing channel. Not because they’re optimizing for the best experience.

An app is a separate experience. Same idea as the website: you don’t try to make the site mimic the retail terminal. Different channel. Different job. Different feel.

Web is the quickest path. Fair. But should that be the goal?

Speed-to-ship for the vendor is not the same thing as the right product for the player. When lottery digital feels like a website in a costume, younger adults don’t write a complaint. They leave.

Lottery Innovation Summit is for the other conversation — US lottery problems, built solutions, working demos. Not another slide that says “we have an app.”

If the goal is a checkbox, a wrapper wins. If the goal is how it feels in someone’s hand, native is the conversation you can’t keep dodging.

Real problems. Built solutions.

Lottery Innovation Summit is a challenge summit for US lottery gaming — not a conference: problems in, working demos out — not decks. Join the announcement list for when details are finalized.
